GIS Education Session Success

Ashtabula County Auditor David Thomas held a well-attended education session on GIS at the Kingsville Public Library. Over 40 residents came to the library’s monthly series, Educate and Create, to hear staff members of the Auditor’s Office review the Ashtabula County GIS (Geographic Information System) and how the public can utilize this tool.

Staff members Caroline Petersen and Alex Iarocci displayed the online system while residents followed along in library laptops and personal devices. “Our GIS team does an excellent job working with other county departments, local governments, and residents who come into the office for help”, shared Auditor David Thomas. This evening opportunity allowed for user-friendly tutorials and personal discussions.

Tools such as measurements, soil types, elevation changes, and gas well were reviewed. Residents were especially enthralled with a tool which shows historical comparisons. Questions on the GIS system and how to utilize the software can be directed towards the Auditor's Office at 440-576-1434.
