County Auditor David Thomas to Host Historical Property Searching Lunch and Learn

Jefferson- Ashtabula County Auditor David Thomas announces an upcoming education session focused on historical research and tools from the Auditor’s Office residents can use. This Lunch & Learn session will be held on Monday, November 18th from noon to 1pm at the Ashtabula County Auditor’s Office in Jefferson.

Auditor staff members Denise Hodges and Deb Mohney will walk attendees through the steps of searching the history of properties including residential and commercial parcels. “Our staff have a wealth of knowledge on historical research that can be very useful for interested residents,” shared Auditor David Thomas. “If you are interested in history and are curious where best to begin, our office can get you started.”

Other topics will include information on how to look up property transfer records, construction type, changes in property structures, important dates in the life of a property, where to find other records, examples of successful historical searches, and much more.

A pizza lunch will be provided free of charge, RSVPS are required and limited to the first 20 respondents. Respondents will also be asked what specific historical search questions or goals they have so that the session will be best tailored to those in attendance.
